Leadership Spotlight: Laura Cococcia, Chief Administrative Officer, Council Advisors

As part of our new leadership spotlight series, we’re sitting down with leaders across Council Advisors—including our colleagues at SSA & Company, The Miles Group, and High Lantern Group—to share insights on leadership, execution, and what it takes to drive results in today’s business environment.

What made Council Advisors the right next step in your career—and how has it expanded your impact?

After leading talent and communications teams at several amazing companies, I was drawn to Council Advisors because of the caliber of leaders we work with. Our practices have incredible reputations, and it’s a place where brand strategy and talent strategy are inseparable. That alignment has let us build something integrated—a talent and market engagement approach driven by what creates value for the CEOs and C-suite leaders we serve.

How has working across industries and contexts sharpened your understanding of leadership?

Good leaders solve problems, but great leaders solve the right problems. Working across different contexts reinforced for me that exceptional leadership is adaptive—the same core principles show up differently depending on what the moment demands. In large organizations, leaders need to maintain vision while managing complexity. In ambiguous situations, leaders are focused on creating clarity. In transformation environments, great leaders can effectively influence when authority isn’t enough. The pattern that emerged: leaders adapt their style to the context but never compromise on bringing out the best in their people, helping them grow while driving results.

Why does leadership, talent, and communication alignment matter more today?

It matters more today because credibility is the new competitive advantage. When leadership, talent, and communication are aligned, people believe what you say because they see it lived out by the people you hire and promote. This matters especially now as companies accelerate AI readiness—alignment creates a multiplier effect where each aspect reinforces the others.
