Dave Niles gives opening remarks at Columbia Business School’s Deming Cup Awards.

David Niles, president of SSA & Company and G100 Companies, and Chairman of the Deming Center Advisory Board, opened the annual Deming Cup awards dinner on October 25th. The W. Edwards Deming Center for Quality, Productivity, and Competitiveness at Columbia Business School honored David M. Cote, Chairman and CEO at Honeywell, and Indra K. Nooyi, Chairman and CEO at PepsiCo, with the 2016 Deming Cup for Operational Excellence.

In his remarks, David noted the importance of developing tomorrow’s business leaders, as “fundamentally, business transformation is not driven by technology, economic trends, or by disruption, but by skilled, driven, and creative individuals.”

The Deming Center promotes operational excellence in business through the development of research, best practices, and strategic planning. The Deming Cup recognizes leaders who have made outstanding contributions in the area of operations and have fostered a culture of continuous improvement within their organizations.
